Oscar 2019 – Bohemian Rhapsody Takes Home 4 Oscars

Green book took home the best picture, while Rami Malek and Olivia Colman took the best acting awards. There were other huge wins – Alfonso Cuaron took home the best director, Spike lee the best adapted screenplay, Regina King for supporting actress and Black Panther took home three awards – for best costume, production design and best original score. The highlights of the evening were that Lady Gaga took home an Oscar – a huge win.

The Indian documentary on menstruation, Period End of Sentence wins an Oscar too. The movie featured the life of real life Pad Man, executive producer being Guneet Monga. The movie talks about the taboos that we have surrounding menstruation to be evil – different parts of India oppress women in different ways during this time of the month. The movie has been directed by award winning Rakya Zehtabchi, and it features the life of the women of Hapur – their reactions when a pad machine was installed in their village.

A huge impact on menstruating women all over the world, and a fight for equality – this one means a lot for Indians and the women who have been fighting for their rights for so long. Definitely a great and grand event, the Oscars 2019 took everyone’s breath away.
