LoyaltyLion Pricing Explained
LoyaltyLion’s published price is $199 a month for Classic, covering 500 monthly orders, with Advanced and Plus on custom quotes (LoyaltyLion pricing page, 4 October 2026). A free plan for up to 400 monthly orders appears on the Shopify App Store listing but not on the website, and the two pages disagree on where VIP tiers start.
What does LoyaltyLion actually cost per month?
LoyaltyLion’s website shows three plans (LoyaltyLion pricing page, 4 October 2026). Classic is the only one with a number: $199 a month for 500 orders a month. For that you get a branded loyalty page built for you, pre-built earning rules to reward on-site and off-site actions, a Klaviyo integration with ready-to-use email flows, and dedicated onboarding support.
Advanced is priced as “Custom”. It adds VIP tiers with exclusive perks for your best customers, points on product pages, enhanced Shopify POS, multilingual translations in 130+ languages, and twice-yearly performance reviews. Plus is also “Custom” and adds AI recommended rewards, Advanced Klaviyo Events that push points, rewards and VIP tier data into Klaviyo, Automated LoyaltyLion Flows, and quarterly reviews.
The Shopify App Store listing tells a slightly different story (4 October 2026). It shows a Free plan, “Free to install”, for 400 monthly orders, with points for on-site activities, fixed-value and percentage discount rewards, analytics and segments, and seven languages. The website pricing page does not show a free plan at all. The listing’s Classic plan at $199 a month adds “Free loyalty page design worth $1500”, unlimited integrations, VIP loyalty tiers, POS locations, Klaviyo loyalty flows built for you, and a 14-day free trial.
So there are two discrepancies to settle before you sign. First, whether the Free plan is available to you: the App Store says yes at 400 orders, the website is silent. Second, where VIP tiers start: the App Store lists them under Classic at $199, the website lists them under Advanced on a custom quote. Ask LoyaltyLion to put the answer in writing, because it is the difference between a $199 tiered programme and a custom quote.
Is $199 a month a fair price against Smile.io and Yotpo?
The useful comparison is at the entry paid tier, because that is where most brands under 1,000 orders a month start.
LoyaltyLion Classic is $199 for 500 orders. Yotpo Loyalty Pro also starts at $199 for the first 500 orders, then charges per order above that (Yotpo loyalty pricing page, 4 October 2026). Smile.io is the outlier: Essential is $15 a month for 500 orders, Standard is $79 for 1,000 and Growth is $199 for 2,500 (Smile.io pricing page, 4 October 2026). On included orders at the $199 price point, Smile covers five times the volume LoyaltyLion does.
That gap is real, but it is not the whole picture, and this is where LoyaltyLion wins. Classic bundles the loyalty page design and the Klaviyo flows as built-for-you work, with dedicated onboarding; the App Store listing puts the page design at “worth $1500”. Smile’s Essential tier allows one integration and Yotpo’s Pro gates Klaviyo as an additional integration, while LoyaltyLion’s App Store listing says unlimited integrations on Classic. For a team without a developer or a retention agency, the setup included in Classic is a chunk of the first-year cost that Smile’s $15 does not cover.
On the free plans, if LoyaltyLion’s App Store Free plan is available to you, its 400-order cap is the largest of the three: Smile’s Free covers 200 monthly orders and Yotpo’s App Store listing puts its Free plan at fewer than 100. The LoyaltyLion listing’s headline is to “reward purchases, referrals, reviews and more”, though neither page itemises referrals for Free or Classic, so confirm that too.
Ratings are a tiebreaker, not a decider: LoyaltyLion is 4.6 from 545 reviews on the App Store, Smile 4.9 from 4,618, Yotpo Loyalty 4.7 from 970 (all listings, 4 October 2026). The full two-vendor comparison is in Yotpo vs Smile.io.
What happens to the price when your orders grow?
LoyaltyLion is unusual in publishing the rule. From the pricing page: “If you exceed your contractually agreed monthly order threshold by more than 25% over an average of three consecutive months, then we give you a call to discuss whether you’re on the most suitable Plan.” Read that carefully. There is no automatic overage fee listed, unlike Smile’s $20 per 100 orders on Growth or Yotpo’s per-order bands. Instead there is a 25 percent buffer averaged over a quarter, and then a conversation.
For a brand on Classic, that means 500 orders is a threshold, not a hard cap. Averaging 600 a month for a quarter is 20 percent over and inside the buffer. Averaging 650 is 30 percent over and triggers the call. What the next plan costs is not published, because Advanced and Plus are custom, so budget for the conversation rather than the number.
Three questions to ask on that call. Does the Free plan on the App Store exist for a store of my size, and does it include referrals? Which plan carries VIP tiers for my account, Classic or Advanced? And what is the Advanced price at my current volume, in writing, so the 25 percent rule has a known destination.
[BMO NUMBER: insert the loyalty-attributed revenue share or redemption rate from one named account, with the platform and window] is the figure we use to decide whether $199 a month is cheap or expensive for a given brand, because the plan price only matters against what the programme returns. Our loyalty programmes team sizes the plan against your order volume and flow design before you sign anything, and the model for deciding whether any loyalty software pays back is in loyalty programme ROI.
