India celebrated Teachers’ Day on September 5, and the best tribute came from Google. The search engine giant Google paid tribute to educators with an animated doodle. It features a red octopus teaching in a classroom – set underwater. Stationed against a blackboard, the octopus uses its tentacles to solve mathematical equations, teach geometry and music apart from performing experiments – all at once  describing the multitude of subjects our teachers handle while teaching us.

Teachers’ Day is celebrated on September 5 annually in honour of former president Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan so as to mark his birth anniversary. An impeccable teacher and a promoter of education, Dr Radha krishnan was born on September 5, 1888 in Tamil Nadu.

Dr Sarvepalli Radha krishnan served as the first Vice President of India from 1952 to 1962 and the second President of India from 1962 to 1967. He was an eminent scholar of comparative religion and philosophy. Dr Radha krishnan taught at several educational institutions including Chennai’s Presidency College and Calcutta University.On this day, every student remembers the important contribution of his or her teachers had on them and how they made them a better person.
