In a candid interview, our own Yuvi makes a list of revelations that got us wondering, why we didn’t know about these earlier! Here’s what the ex-cricketer had to say:

  1. He was sure that he would quit – the decision was made last year. He wanted this to be the last IPL. He says that if he would have won, that would have left him with a satisfied farewell. But of course, he admits everything doesn’t happen the way we want it to.
  2. He expressed his desire to play overseas T20 leagues. He wants to enjoy his life, play some fun cricket.
  3. He talks about the biggest moment in his career – which was winning the world cup and being declared as the man of the series.
  4. He confesses that his score of 84 runs against Australia was the defining moment of his career.  He says that it was against the best team in the world – which definitely is a moment to remember.
  5. Yuvi even spoke to Sachin about the retirement decision – Sachin advised that career ending decision should come from within, and never from people.
  6. When asked about regrets, Yuvi recalls that he couldn’t play a lot of test matches because of his cancer. He also reconciles telling himself that he couldn’t do much because the disease wasn’t in his hands.
  7. He was offered a Yoyo test, and on the basis of which, it would be decided if he wanted a retirement match. Yuvi passed the Yoyo test, and decided that he would quit.
  8. When asked who was the next Yuvraj Singh, he recommends that Yehshapath is the guy who would replace him. He says that he has an attacking style of playing, which is commendable.
  9. Sourav Ganguly is Yuvi’s favourite captain, under who he started playing in his initial days. He also recalls MS Dhoni fondly, and their wins together.
  10. His top picks are Mutaya Murlidharan, Len Megrah, and overseas cricketer would be Ricky Ponting, Chris Gale – since they have all been power horses!
